2025 National Encampment Tour

Relive the 18 minutes that changed the world at San Jacinto.

As you enter the San Jacinto Monument and walk into the grand open gallery that showcases the core of the Museum’s collections in the Permanent Exhibit hall, it’s like walking through hundreds of years of this region’s history. Period artifacts, documents, prints, and photographs come together to share the story of Texas.

You will see the firearms used in the key battles that shaped the history of the Southwest and view items used by the pioneers of Texas independence. You will also see Spanish silver, pre-Columbian pottery, the maps that guided the explorers of the region, religious artwork and artifacts, the tools used to work the land and herd the cattle and many other artifacts that highlight key moments in history over the past 500 years. The field trip will be via a chartered bus on Thursday, August 7th. Loading at the hotel entrance begins at 8:45 am. Departure is at 9:00 am. Lunch will take place at Kemah Boardwalk. Return to the hotel by 3 or 4 pm.
